Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl will be known as Soudal-Quick-Step from 2023. Dirk Coorevits, the CEO of Soudal, confirmed this news on the TV show Vive le Vélo .
When asked why he decided to put Soudal in front, Coorevits said, "We are taking the lead. We would have liked that in the previous team. We think we have to invest more to create that brand awareness. Don't ask how much that is, but we will invest more. We want to take full advantage of the visibility to forge a five-year alliance with our companions along the route, hopefully, longer."
Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team CEO Patrick Lefevere said: “We are delighted to welcome Soudal to the team. Their partnership with us allows some stability for the squad for several years. It allows us to work, together with Quick-Step, on some long-term projects and common goals that we are all aiming to achieve. Both of our title sponsors have been in cycling for several years now, so they understand how the sport works, which is really important when trying to build something together.”
When asked about his opinion on Remco Evenpoel and his place in the new team, Coorevits said, "It is a long-term project. You have to build it up and see where it goes. We also don't want to put too much pressure on Remco. There might be other riders in the future. The intention is to build up something and also to be able to play in the tours. After all, that's where the biggest visibility is."
