No Covid-19 positives confirmed after rest day round of testing

A lot of anticipation and tension was present in the peloton ahead of the mandatory round of testing that came after the second rest day, as many riders' races could end or be changed in the blink of an eye. However, surprisingly positive news emerged from the UCI this morning as no tests came back positive.

Yesterday after the finish in Châtel there was a testing site where every rider went through after the stage. Several teams had already confirmed it's negative results last night, however this morning the UCI put out an official statement announcing that all tests came back positive and the race will go on without further casualties.

So far three riders abandoned the race with a positive test: UAE Team Emirates' Vegard Stake Laengen, AG2R Citröen Team's Geoffrey Bouchard and Cofidis' Guillaume Martin. Yesterday's stage winner Bob Jungels tested positive before the start of the race but was given medical permission to start it.

Although the amount of cases - public and between riders that is - is so far low, the fears remain high in the peloton and many teams are adopting a lot of precaution measures such as constant mask use and individual bedrooms.
