BORA - hansgrohe's acquisition of Primoz Roglic from Team Visma | Lease a Bike, was arguably the standout transfer of the window.
Although it's still early days in the relationship between rider and team, all the early signs are positive. “It’s definitely a boost,” BORA - hansgrohe sports director, Bernhard Eisel said in conversation with Velo. “From the staff to the riders, Primož is lifting things for everyone.”
Even prior to Roglic's arrival though, BORA had strengthed considerably Eisel believes. “It’s not just one rider,” Eisel explains. “We also have Daniel Martínez, Aleksandr Vlasov, Jai Hindley, we have a pretty impressive GC group that we put together, but somehow everyone overlooked it until Primož came."
“When you look at that roster, everyone knows we can expect big things. Everyone knows that if Primož is dialed in for Paris-Nice or Tirreno, everyone else has to step up," Eisel concludes. “It also opens the GC for the others. That’s what Jumbo’s done so nicely the past couple of years of having two and even three options.”
