This Tuesday, October 8th, the
Tre Valli Varesine will serve as a warm-up for next Saturday's Il Lombardia. We
preview a spectacular race, very hard, with more than 3,400 meters of accumulated elevation gain that will end as usual in Varese in a race that has been won by greats such as Barali, Coppi, Merckx Bugno or more recently Nibali, Roglic or Pogacar.
The race will consist of a total of 200 kilometers with numerous climbs to Montello (2 km at 5.2% and Ronchi-Casbeno (2.5 km at 5). There will be 8 laps of the circuit with the last climb to Ronchi one kilometer from the finish. The climb to Barasso is incorporated on this occasion, with 11% sections that could do a lot of damage. Perfect day for the classics.
UAE has confirmed
Tadej Pogacar as the leader of the team, who, after a stunning performance at the Giro dell'Emilia in his first race in the rainbow jersey, will once again fight for the win in Varese before looking for another Monument next Saturday in Como. Juan Ayuso, Rafal Majka, Pavel Sivakov and Jay Vine will be at his side. The Slovenian is a big favourite.
We'll see if
Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic are fit enough to make things difficult for him, or not. Watch out also for men like
Tom Pidcock or Pello Bilbao, dangerous on this type of course.
