Girmay is proof the UCI Rider rankings mean basically nothing on own. I'd rather a dozen sprinters lower ranked over Girmay if formed a team as we'd simply get more consistent top 10 results. I don't even think he's one of the best sprinters despite last years Tour. I mean Tours are becoming more and more climber intensive sprinters can win far easier especially if they are essentially a no body before. No one cared for his threat in the tour. They will this time and I don't believe he's going to have a good result due to it.18-04-2025 07:44

I mean the year before cables were external aspect should help narrow down the options as that can only be 1 year if you look at every bike it's the year cables disappeared.15-04-2025 10:00

It was still an incredible debute and winning this race is very much possible for Pogi if gives it a few more years experience. I was wondering if he didn't get good intel from the car and seemed to be trying to attack round the corner or at least apply pressure which it was just not the right place. Maybe the bikes played a part in why he didn't realise himself but I do feel given his stature and being the first ever Paris Roubaix for Poggi, if he needed more support from those around him in knowing the corners that you simply can't take like normal. I remember a gravel lane I took too hard once and it was a gentle turn but if you try to take hard it will throw you. Seems it was pretty common knowledge now for the others in the event but I didn't know and it ended up bloody and bruised all because I wasn't aware of this corner where the normal rules don't apply. I'd suspect similar myself.14-04-2025 07:30

Tricky one as while I agree Pogi and UAE are simply faster over a long distance which means Visma and MVP need to be as smart with energy use as can, it's also been proven in the past that one way for Pogi to be beaten is relentless attacks, to put him into the red. However that does require a rider to as good as sacrifice themselves for that one move which makes risk07-04-2025 22:15

Even if not technically against the rules, this is just bad etiquette and frankly I hope the rest of pelaton remembers Arkea don't care about etiquette or honoring tradition which means they shouldn't benifit from it.07-04-2025 22:11

The truth is already out. Thats what the purpose of the testimony he gave was. Nevermind someone innocent would not have ruined so many lives in the process. If he somehow was ever allowed back in pro cycling or his records restored, not only would it be a travesty for Justice in sport, but it would be the end of cycling. Already done so much damage, and continues to by making stupid statements on his podcast to stay relevant. If he actually had any respect for the sport, or other people, he'd stop treating the world like fools and own his past and present. Not try and make up sob stories. Especially when all they do is highlight his entitlement and privilege.07-04-2025 07:15

To be fair I think they have a point but especially so when consider its rarely done to grow cycking by being held in nations where there's high potential but a small scene (Like Israel with the Giro) but instead it goes to nations that have at least 1 major race already (Spain has many, UK has the Tour of Britian) so I understand the frustration there because I'd rather ride the tour of france in France than start in a country which gonna race anyway but if they did it every other year and in a nation that riders may not race in otherwise and that could benifit from having such a race come by and inspire a generation.25-03-2025 07:49

Good. Inios is an awful company that shouldn't have ever been allowed into cycling. Is easily findable video of their staff assaulting grandma's protesting fracking, something eventually banned due to its lack of success when done, and fact in most communities around 98% of those asked disapproved of having one. I celebrate their failure and until a better owner takes over British cycling won't recover as I know I'm not alone in how feel, especially those who love cycling but as currently unsold on it as a pro sport.20-03-2025 14:18

Yes they race different to the men but I think it's generally smarter cycling by the top. Mens there's plenty of chess but also I think there's more of a view that you physically break your opponents. The womens you see the top riders forcing mistakes more which not only gives them time ahead but has a huge psychological impact.05-11-2024 08:32

Yet ITV isn't free. No 'free-view' is. Many pay for a TV licence which is more expensive than most subscription services for access. Watching without a licence is a crime. However despite that the coverage of last years tour was awful. I mean genuinely appalling I was glad had Discovery to watch, plus that way I got the whole race. Nevermind why anyone would want to pay a tv licence to the BBc, ITV , Chanel 4 etc is beyond me as they have literally made terroist propoganda so I couldn't be happier at this change. Cycling should be for everyone. Any network that incites hate and is bias against others isn't a network that fits cycling culture nor should they be able to profit of cycling.29-10-2024 07:59
