Peter Sagan set to miss on racing and undergo heart surgery as he finds new complications

Peter Sagan is undergoing health problems at the moment. After having been told that it was not a problem that required an operation, the Slovakian rider once again found heart complications that will need a surgery.

Some weeks ago abnormalities were found in his heart but after some testing it was concluded that he was in state to resume training and competition. "A subcutaneous event recorder has been implanted which will allow the future monitoring of the athlete," it was written at the time.

The device stayed with him so as to monitor his heart and in the past few days, it was discovered that he had slight issues once again. As a preventive measure, he will undergo a surgery that should prevent further problems.

"While I was training on the rocky trails in Marseille, my heart hit a few bumps. Nothing to worry about, you could say that my heart needs a pit stop," he said in an Instagram post. "I will undergo surgery next week and thanks to my friend, sports cardiologist Dr. Roberto Corsetti, I am sure I will be back in the saddle very soon, Stay tuned here, I'll keep you updated."
