After his latest adventure in Big Sugar
Gravel,
Nicholas Roche has decided to launch his own gravel team in 2023.
"I want to put together a small team," Roche told VeloNews. While the team is still at the initial stage, Roche has confirmed the support from brands such as Bianchi, Ekoi and Assos. "I have fully embraced the gravel world. Next year I will continue to do my TV work and work for Trinity Racing, but hopefully, in addition, I will manage to ride 12 to 15 races in the United States and Europe. I hope we can travel and race as a team."
The decision was influenced significantly by his brother Alexis Roche. Alexis will ride alongside his older brother in the team. "He will definitely be part of the team and we also want a woman there. If we bring in a little more sponsorship money, we can attract a fourth rider. It won't be a team with everything, but we will definitely share our experience," said Roche.
Both European and North American races will be the focus of the team. "The female rider we haven't chosen yet, that spot is still open," Roche said. "That's also kind of difficult, because many women are already tied up with a team. In addition, some riders still have a focus on road cycling. But that is being worked on. With our team it's mainly about the adventure," concluded Roche.
