Geraint Thomas is currently on a podium mission at the Giro d'Italia. The Welshman, second last year, will have to deal with Tadej Pogacar if he wants to succeed. At 37 years old, the Welshman maintains excellent physical shape and should race for at least another year. However he saw his friend and teammate Luke Rowe announce his retirement at the end of the season.
Asked Friday by BBC Radio 4 about a possible retirement after that of Luke Rowe, Geraint Thomas reassured that retiring as early is not on his agenda: "I definitely still have a contract for another year."
The winner of the 2018 Tour de France should therefore race in 2025, but with a good chance of stopping at the end of the next season: "Next year will probably be my last year, I think. Nothing is fixed, but I will finish my career at 95% at the end of next year."
