All easy to say but did you think at all about how it would be if every amateur car driver would start chasing every celebrity in a car? Will they all have to end up like Diana before people realise a public road does not mean any old behaviour? There are already good reasons why pros have certain privileges on public roads (in more advanced cycling nations) and why they are generally accompanied during group rides. It’s not dissimilar to certain rules being extended for film crews or the transport of protected persons (whether dangerous criminals or royalty and leaders).

It's actually normal. Most pro riders train alone. This is because each rider has their own training programme so it's difficult to be riding together e.g. if one is doing a Zone 2 ride and another is doing intervals.

But he took his anger out on an amateur rider who simply offered his help. That rider said that he understood Jonas's anger, but that says a lot about how kind and humble the rider is.

Chris Horner’s opinion is valid and shouldn’t be dismissed just because he’s allegedly a doper. His opinions have sound judgement and definitely make sense to me. I prefer his opinions to others who haven’t raced in their life!!

Having trained on French roads for hours without pro riders in vicinity, yet seeing them near the end of rides in passing, it must be said this story is lacking context details. Public roads are for the public. If teams wish for private access, they should get permits for road closures. Otherwise, hire sweeper riders to shadow the pros and discuss rules of the road with non-team riders who are sharing the roads.
