New footage revealed showing Mathieu van der Poel's bike being hit by hat from spectator at Paris-Roubaix

Mathieu van der Poel won Paris-Roubaix, but in a race that lacked much tension and intrigue, the highlight ended up being a spectator throwing a hat at the World Champion's wheels. New footage revealed now shows the incident from another angle which is rather incriminating for the spectator.

Het Laatste Nieuws got a hold of a video taken by a spectator in the opposite side of the road, in the opposite angle to that which the TV broadcast showed. Not only does it show the spectator clearly throwing a hat into van der Poel's wheels (and hitting one, but without consequence), but also the aftermath in which no-one around her confronted her.

Whilst van der Poel was unaffected by the incident it did not go unnoticed, whilst French authorities have identified the woman and is in contact. Most likely a fine is coming at the very least, as a consequence of attempting to harm the athlete but also to set the tone in order to prevent future incidents such as this to keep taking place.
