Jonas Vingegaard has, barring disaster, won the Tour de France this afternoon. After an incredible time-trial, Tadej Pogacar's implosion has seen Vingegaard fly up the Col de la Loze and inflate his race lead for over seven minutes.
"Well... It's hard to describe. More than 7 minutes ahead, that's unbelievable. But the Tour is not over yet. Tadej will certainly try something in the last three stages. We have to keep fighting because we are not in Paris yet," Vingegaard said in a post-race interview, perhaps being more cautious than most expect after what had just happened. Vingegaard put on another consistent and strong performance in the race's queen stage, whilst his rival, who he had been fighting for small seconds, shed over six minutes on the road.

Vingegaard had the help of Jumbo-Visma to decimate the peloton once again and grinded up the final ramp in Courchevel knowing of the time he'd be gaining on Pogacar. After having to put a foot down on the final ascent, in the final ramp to the line he finished fourth, but has now solidified his lead as 7:35 minutes on Pogacar. One that will grant him a second Tour de France win, unless something goes terribly wrong in the last few days of the race.
He comments on the crash early in the day which took the Slovenian down, which may have hampered his form on the day. “I was just behind him. Someone went to the right and took Tadej's wheel. He couldn't help it. That was very unfortunate for him. We didn't hold back after that, but we didn't want to take advantage of it either. Or that has caused these big differences? That is difficult to say, you have to ask Tadej that.”
