Michael Woods won the third stage of La Route d'Occitanie held on Saturday. It was the first Canadian victory in La Route d’Occitanie and it has taken the Israel - Premier Tech rider into the race lead ahead of the final day.
“I am proud to be the first Canadian to win in this race. It is great to see the team performing in different races at the moment," he said. After resisting the attacks of Carlos Rodríguez in the main ascent of the day, Woods went on to strike a sharp attack in the final climb and into the stage win.
"In Switzerland, Jakob Fuglsang is doing great, and, personally, I am very happy to win here,” he said. The Israeli team have had a very complicated season so far however this weekend they are set to take a very important set of points, once again from the two climbers.
