The queen stage of
La Route d'Occitanie saw the crucial gaps made, in a day that favoured
Michael Woods who took a crucial win for
Israel - Premier Tech in it's quest to stay in the World Tour.
With INEOS Grenadiers and Arkéa Samsic pushing the pace in the main ascent of the race, the Col des Ares. Far from the finish, Carlos Rodríguez launched an attack that only Woods could follow. The duo collaborated into the final ascent into Les Angles where they fought for the stage win.
Woods attacked with two kilometers to go, and in the hard heat of the Pyrenees the Canadian took an important win for Israel - Premier Tech and took over the race lead in sight of the final day of the race.
Carlos Rodríguez finished second albeit over a minute behind, and
Jesús Herrada sprinted to third place from the chasing group.
