Chris Froome stated that recently that he's changed his bike setup in magnitude of centimeters and that this could be behind part of his lack of performance. A lot of people reacted with skepticism and that includes
Michael Rasmussen who doesn't believe the former Tour de France winner's words.
“I had one of my old bikes from Team Sky/Ineos days so I was able to compare the position on the two different bikes. I found that my reach, so from saddle to the handlebars, was over three centimetres of difference between the two bikes, longer on the current bike," Froome told Cyclingnews recently. “I took my old bike and went to a specialist and found very big discrepancies between my positions. But now we’ve made some big changes, more than centimetres in terms of saddle height, in terms of the reach, it’s really a lot, we’re not talking millimetres.”
Rasmussen simply did not believe the words of Froome, responding shortly after: "What a load of BS from Froome. Any pro cyclist who has done 1000s of hours on a bike will instantly feel a change in the set-up." Other fans were quick to point out stories within Team Sky where riders could notice a difference of millimeters on the bike. Froome has also talked about changes in bike position on more than one occasion during his stay at
Israel - Premier Tech.
"Froome could ride his Pinarello from 2015 and He still wouldn’t crack top 20 in Tour du Rwanda with his current level," the Dane concluded.
What a dumb response, like whether he won a GT or not is relevant to his comments. Rasmussen is a pro who knows how much care is put into bike fit at that level, and he of course knows enough to call out Froome's obvious BS. Everything he said was 100% on point.
Froome, on the other hand, has been shoveling BS since the first day someone asked him how he transformed from a guy handing sprinters his wheels to a world beating GT rider. He was a habitual liar then and he's a habitual liar now.
