Throughout the 2025
Giro d'Italia, the race jury attributes fines to some of the riders and sporting directors. Ultimately the fines can come in the form of money, time penalties or even UCI points, depending on the rule breaking. Here we present what has happened during the race.
Stage 1
Francesco Busatto (Intermarché - Wanty): Irregular sprint (blow from elbow and head). Yellow card.
Bahrain - Victorious DS Gorazd Stangelj: Breach of regulation or guidelines concerning vehicle movements during the race. 500CHF fine.
Stage 2

Stage 3
Martin Marcellusi of the VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizanè originially crossed the line in 8th. After a review from the jury though, the Italian was relegated to 85th place for an irregular sprint.
Darren Rafferty (EFE) and Ben Turner (IGD) gets 500 CHF and -25 pts in UCI ranking for disposing of bottle in a careless manner. Rafferty gets also a yellow card
Arnaud Gerard (ARK SD) takes 500 CHF for rider feeding on foot outside the feeding zone
Pello Bilbao (TBV) takes a warning for irregular position on the bike
Stage 4
Stage 3 yellow card initially given to Darren Rafferty (EFE) is reassigned to Kasper Asgreen (EFE) following video review.
Max Kanter (XAT) receives a 500 CHF fine, a 13-point deduction in the ciclamino classification, and is relegated to the last place of his group for an irregular sprint (shoulder blows in the final).
Bram Welten (TPP) is issued a yellow card for decelerating during the final sprint and endangering other riders.
Quinten Hermans (ADC), Jan Maas (COF), and Milan Vader (Q36) are each fined 200 CHF for urinating in public.
Roberto Reverberi (VBF SD) is given a warning for breaching vehicle movement regulations during the race (phoning while driving).
Lorenzo Germani's (GFC) time is neutralized after suffering a puncture within the final 5 km.

Matteo Moschetti (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team): Irregular sprint. Relegation, Yellow card, 500CHF fine, 13 UCI points fine.

Carlos Verona (Lidl-Trek): Public urination. 200CHF fine.

Lorenzo Fortunato fined 200CHF for "failing to respect regulation distances and gaps during a time trial".
Stage 11
Brandon Rivera (INEOS Grenadiers): 'Sticky bottle'. 200CHF fine.
INEOS Grenadiers DS Zak Dempster: 'Sticky bottle'. 500CHF fine.
Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team): Disposing bottle outside litter zone in a careless manner. 500CHF fine and 25 UCI points penalization.
Stage 12
Bahrain - Victorious DS Gorazd Stangelj: Unidentified rider littering outside waste zone. 500CHF fine.
Giosuè Epis (Arkéa - B&B Hotels): Feeding from a spectator on foot outside feeding zone. 500CHF fine, 2 KOM points penalization, 10 points classification penalization and 10 seconds overall classification penalization.
Stage 13
Kaden Groves was 500CHF and given a 20 second time penalty, whilst the Alpecin-Deceuninck team were fined 1000CHF for unauthorised feeding in a stage race, in the last 20 km of the stage.
Brandon McNulty meanwhile, was given a 200CHF fine for unseemly or inappropriate behaviour (in particular undressing or urinating in public at the start or finish or during the race) and damage to the image of sport.
Stage 14
Damiano Caruso gets 500 CHF, -25 UCI pts and a yellow card for disposing an object (clothing) in a dangerous manner (towards another rider)
A Team Jayco AlUla mechanic received a 500 CHF and a yellow card for leaning out of a vehicle while assisting a rider in a dangerous manner. SD Pieter Weening also gets 1000 CHF and a yellow card.
Stage 15
Carlos Verona gets 500 CHF and -25 pts in UCI ranking for disposing of a bottle outside of litter zones with the presence of his team's car by his side, whilst both Patrick Konrad and Wout van Aert were on the end of a 200 CHF fine for urinating in public.
Stage 16
Team Soigneurs John Evans (EF Education-EasyPost) & Ignacio Rubio (Groupama-FDJ): Non-compliance during feeding. Yellow card and 200CHF fine.
Mechanics Michael Mainguenaud (Cofidis) and Edgar Coso Ferrer (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team): Leaning out of a vehicle and irregular assistance of a rider. Yellow card and 500CHF fine.
DS Gorka Guerricagotia (Cofidis) and Kurt Bogaerts (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team): Mechanic leaning out of a vehicle and irregular assistance of a rider. Yellow card and 1000CHF fine.

Mathias Vacek fined 500CHF for 'Disposing of waste outside of litter zones'

Michael Schar (Lidl-Trek Sports Director) ad Jens Zemke (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team Sports Director) feeding whilst overtaking the peloton. Warning.
Jesus Hernandez Blazquez (Team Polti Visit Malta) dangerous driving. 500 CHF fine.
Louis Meijntes (IWG), Carlos Verona (Lidl-Trek), Damien Howson (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team) Sticky bottle 200 CHF fine. Their Sports Directors also take a 500 CHF fine each.
