Marianne Vos has added Dwars Door Vlaanderen to his palmares for the very first time, continuing her renaissance in 2024.
Just as the big attacks began to take place, kicked off by Puck Pieterse, the race was actually neutralised momentarily with just under 50km to go due to a car accident on course.
It didn't take long for the racing to get back underway however, and the attacking soon followed with Pieterse again front and centre. Initially, even Team SD Worx - Protime were caught on the back foot although Lotte Kopecky managed to power across to the leaders single handedly.
In total, six riders were at the front. Pieterse, Kopecky, Marianne Vos, Shirin van Anrooij, Elisa Longo Borghini and Letizia Paternoster.
With just over 11km to go, van Anrooij attacked when seemingly no one was expecting it and caught everyone apart from Vos off-guard. The duo quickly built up a solid lead.
At 5km, the leaders advantage had stretched to over 20 seconds, a lead they managed to hold onto all the way to the line where somewhat unsurpsingly, Vos was able to win the sprint with Paternoster taking third.
