INEOS Grenadiers owner, Jim Ratcliffe, wants to buy the Manchester United football club. Ratcliff besides owning one of the most successful cycling teams ever, INEOS Grenadiers, is looking to have INEOS DS Dave Brailsford take over the football club.
Now he wants the current Ineos director of sport Dave Brailsford to catch up with Manchester United in order to "Make them the number one club in the world once again", as Ratcliffe stated in a press conference.
If Ratcliffe successfully buys Manchester United it will be Dave Brailsford, the man behind the many cycling successes Team Sky/INEOS had for so many years in professional cycling, who will be responsible for organizing Manchester United to lead the club to glory just like he has done in cycling. The problem is that Brailsford had the same task for OGC Nice but his methods didn't work very well with football and he even received some criticism and mockery from some football journalists.
"He reminds me a little bit of Sir Clive Woodward when England won the rugby World Cup. He thought he could go into any sport, including football, and be successful and it just doesn't happen like that", said Julian Laurens, one of the most prestigious football journalists.
