The Bredene Koksijde Classic saw attacks from start to finish but a sprint eventually decided the outcome of the day. With an impressive sprint, Luca Mozzato beat Dylan Groenewegen and Gerben Thijssen to the line.
The Belgian race featured some winds and some climbs, which caused chaos throughout the whole day and made it very hard for the sprinters that had a very real chance of taking the win on the day. After the echelons were undone, five riders went up the road: Max Kronnen, Matteo Milan, Abram Sotchman, Jens Reynders and Mauro Verwilt.
In the cobbled ascents several attacks stormed off the front and decimated the peloton, but large groups would then come back together once again. In the flat sectors many riders used the wind to try and make the damage, with strong echelons also taking place.
With 9 kilometers to go Nils Politt launched an attack which was followed by Yves Lampaert, Patrick Eddy, Daan Hoole and Dries de Pooter. The quintet became a duo upfront with 3 kilometers to go as Lampaert and Eddy attacked. The peloton remained right in their heels however and caught them right at the entrance to the final kilometer.
Luka Mezgec led the sprint out with Emils Liepins and Dylan Groenewegen following. The Dutchman seemed to have all pieces in place on the day, but in his wheel was Mozzato who had a strong kick in the final meters to steal the victory right on the line. Gerben Thijssen rode to third on the day.
