Lotte Kopecky after gold in Women's elimination race - "There is no better feeling than being able to ride around in this jersey"

A gold medal was enough to get Lotte Kopecky started on the right foot for the World Track Cycling Championship. There was never a moment when she was out of control, she was always in charge.

She "had a good feeling" at the start of the race, Kopecky told Sporza. She put in an impressive performance at the start of the race. She beat Italian rider Rachele Barbieri and secured the gold. But she remains modest and says, "A trouble-free victory? Let's just say I had a good feeling."

The Belgian declined to answer when asked if she would participate again next year and continue the trend. "We're not going to start with that!". She continues, "There are three more tough days coming up. I also thought that the omnium might be too much, but I already have the jersey and medal. I can now ride the other parts without pressure."

Kopecky missed the title of World Champion by one spot, and this victory is to compensate for her performance in World Championships. "This gold medal also makes up for something after the silver of the World Championships on the road in Australia. There is no better feeling than being able to ride around in this jersey," concluded Kopecky.
