Lorrenzo Manzin successfully underwent iliac artery surgery

Lorrenzo Manzin has successfully gone under the knife, the Frenchman announced via social media. The TotalEnergies rider suffered from iliac endofibrosis, a narrowing of the leg arteries. This restricts blood flow, resulting in a large loss of power in the leg during maximum exercise.

Manzin, currently 29, will now begin his recovery process, hoping to return to training as soon as possible. "The operation went well. It is an injury that often occurs among cyclists. I will now start my rehabilitation period of several weeks. This will be followed by a gradual return to sport."

The French rider will probably start his season a little later. "I expect that my start to the season will be postponed," Manzin adds.

The fast Manzin has been competing for TotalEnergies since 2020. He started his career in 2015 riding for FDJ and also raced with Vital Concept for two seasons. He has six professional victories on his list of achievements. His last victory dates from 2022 when Manzin won another stage in the Tour Poitou-Charentes.
