Kaitlin Armstrong found guilty and faces up to 99 years in prison following murder of Moriah Wilson

The trial over the murder of former Gravel star Moriah Wilson has ended. Kaitlin Armstrong was declared guilty and faces up to 99 years in prison following first-degree murder charges.

The case shocked the cycling world in May of 2022. Wilson was one of the most prominent gravel riders in the circuit and was found dead in Austin, Texas, as she was preparing for the famous Gravel Locos event. She was the victim of a gunshot wound, and the bullets matched a gun that was owned by Armstrong. Wilson was in a relationship with American pro rider Colin Strickland and the cause for Armstrong's actions was most likely that, taking into consideration that she had been together with Strickland as well.

The tragedy happened in an apartment in the Texan city and Armstrong's vehicle was seen there on the night of the crime. Additionally, her DNA was found on scene and she fled the country to Costa Rica - where she was arrested after over a month on the loose - with her sister's passport.

Eventually she was brought back to the USA and the trial began. The evidence was overwhelming and she will soon be sentenced with what is expected to be a very large number of years.
