Jumbo Visma's primary sponsor - "Cannot imagine that we will let go of Jumbo-Visma"

The departure of Jumbo Visma's primary sponsor has been making headlines for a number of days, and the CEO of Jumbo Supermarkets has now divulged new details regarding the situation.

Ton van Veen had a front-row seat to the entire Tour of Flanders race from the team's leader car. “It is a pity that we just missed out on the podium. But we look back on good results in recent weeks. We are very proud of that,” he told WielerFlits after the race.

Soon the topic shifted to the sponsorship to which he said. “We are reconsidering Jumbo's entire sponsorship. This does not only apply to the Jumbo-Visma skating and cycling teams . Sponsorship always has a life cycle. We have reached the top. We are now going to see if we want to continue with sponsorship in this way. Will we remain in first place as a sponsor or will we go a bit more broad?”

He states that talks with management are still underway. “I cannot imagine that we will let go of Jumbo-Visma. There will be no farewell to the team. We are currently considering whether we will by definition remain the main sponsor for the rest of the years. We give the team a warm heart and we will certainly continue to do so.”
