Julian Alaphilippe skips the European Championships in favour of Canadian classics

Julian Alaphilippe is on the starting list of the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal. The races are scheduled for September 13th and 15th, which collides with the European Road Championships (September 15). Conclusion? The two-time world champion won't attempt to add the European stars and stripes to his collection of jersey this year.

The organization of the GP Quebec and GP Montreal can count on a nice field of participants. It was already known that Arnaud De Lie, aware of the high level of sprinters in the Belgian NT, will also ride both races. In addition, Tadej Pogacar should also cross the Atlantic Ocean, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier.

Now it turns out that Julian Alaphilippe will also be at the start, as well as his compatriots Paul Lapeira, Valentin Madouas, Romain Bardet, Benoît Cosnefroy and Kévin Vauquelin. France will bet on other horses in Flemish Limburg.

Other top riders on the provisional start list for the GP Quebec and GP Montreal include Tom Pidcock, Matej Mohoric, Alberto Bettiol, Biniam Girmay, Matteo Jorgenson and Michael Matthews .
