In something of an upset, 38-year-old Jos van Emden has taken his third victory at the Dutch National Championship in the individual time-trial.
Previously a champion in both 2010 and 2019, not many were expecting the Jumbo-Visma rider to make it a hatrick in 2023 but that is exactly what has happened.
Edging out the likes of Daan Hoole and Sjoerd Bax, van Emden was victorious by 18 seconds. Many of the pre-race favourites including Thymen Arensman, Wilco Kelderman and Bauke Mollema will be disappointed with their efforts.
Arensman eventually lost 2:26 to van Emden. After Kelderman stranded more than a minute from the experienced time trial specialist. Mollema couldn't go any faster either. He ended up in fifth place.
