Johan Jacobs begins his road to recovery following successful iliac artery surgery

Johan Jacobs of Movistar Team has undertaken successful iliac artery surgery to remove kinking and endofibrosis in his left leg. The Suisse classics rider had relatively quiet spring, working for his leaders most of the time. His last race before surgery was Amstel Gold Race, which he did not finish.

"No racing for a few months. The last few months (and years) I have been struggeling with pain, numbness and loss of power in my left leg. And it kept getting worse," Jacobs explains what lead to his surgery.

"I got surgery done last thursday to remove a kinking and endofibrosis in my left illiac artery. It’s been rough, but no worries, I‘ll be back," Jacobs concludes.

Johan Jacobs will now fully focus to recover and get back too racing as soon as possible. For the time being, he'll be sidelined till further notice. The Swiss rider is just off the spring classics where he helped Matteo Jorgenson and Ivan García Cortina to strong results.
