Jens Keukeleire's contract with EF Education-EasyPost is coming to an end and little is known about his future. The 34-year old rider does not know what he will do next year, although talks about a new contract are ongoing, he tells WielerFlits.
"We are still working on that," says Keukeleire who is currently racing in Poland. "I was lucky that in the first years of my career in May or June I already had certainty for the following year. It hasn't happened the last few times, but we're still working on it. I try not to worry too much about it."
At his age, the former winner of a Vuelta stage admits to thoughts about retirement. "In any case, I was aware last year that this could be my last year, but I'm not quite sure yet," he says.
"I took a little rest after the Belgian championship and now have a good training block behind me," said the Belgian, who also rode some MTB competitions in between. "That was fun. A bit unexpectedly I was not in the selection a few times, and mountain biking was a nice change to keep some rhythm."
