Ivan Garcia Cortina dreaming of success in the Classics: "The Tour of Flanders and Paris - Roubaix are the ones I like the most"

With Movistar's Ivan Garcia Cortina entering the peak years of his career aged 27, the Spaniard is determined to add to his three career wins in 2023 ideally at one of the Classics.

“I dream of the great classics," the Gijon native tells AS. "The Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix are the ones I like the most. To fight for the top 10 in these races I have to take a step that seems small, but at the same time is very big. Hopefully, we can do that."

With the retirement of Alejandro Valverde leaving a gaping hole in the Movistar Team, there is room for someone to step up and become a leader. This is something that has not gone unnoticed for the 27-year-old with him training harder than ever before during the off-season.

“During training, the sensations are very good," he reveals. "Some better data than last year. I honestly don't know what the reason is. Now, however, we have to prove it in the race!”
