Former Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España winner
Nairo Quintana had announced recently that despite the rumors he was going to continue to compete. The Colombian was palling to embark soon to Europe to negotiate in person with the teams with a view to his return to the main level of road cycling.
However, according to the Colombian Federation, this Thursday afternoon the climber was registered to participate in the Colombian National Championship in Bucaramanga. It is going to be his 4th participation at the Nationals a race that he never won and that his best result was a 4th place both in 2016 and 2020.
So, his compatriots will see him compete again and perhaps for the last time in a long time in their native soil, as he has decided to return to cycling only in the international peloton and not in his home country. And as it has become clear, the task of finding a place will be far from easy since most of the main teams have already their squads filled.
Besides Quintana, FCC announced also Egan Bernal, Rigoberto Urán, Sergio Higuita, Miguel Ángel López, Esteban Chaves, Daniel Martínez, Iván Sosa, Harold Tejada and Einer Rubio, among others for the nationals road race, being a competition with a lot of quality riders present in it.
