This Monday sees the end of the 2024
Vuelta a Espana in Portugal, with a stage between Lousã and Castelo Branco. It will be another day that will have to be decided in a sprint, but it will be a special occasion for the Portuguese public and also for the Portuguese cyclists in the peloton, particularly
João Almeida.
The 25-year-old is getting the chance to ride stages of a Grand Tour at home and stage 2 was particularly special for him, as it took place in his hometown of Caldas da Rainha. "It's hard to find words to describe a day like today! I never thought it would be possible to hear so many 'Go João's'. A mix of inexplicable emotions over almost 200km, many memories relived, others created that I will certainly remember",
says João Almeida on social media.
