One of Team SD Worx's new arrivals for 2023, Lorena Wiebes is prioritising the quality of her wins rather than the quantity. "If I then win a little less races, I am still very satisfied.”
Speaking on a video call with various different media outlets Wiebes outlined her plans for the upcoming campaign. "I would like to win more bigger competitions, such as Gent-Wevelgem or the World Championship," the sprint ace revealed. “I knew that when I signed for the team."
Joining SD Worx from Team DSM, Wiebes is sure she has made the right call by switching teams. The chance to ride alongside Lotte Kopecky is a big deal and Kopecky is full of praise for Wiebes, "Lorena is currently the fastest sprinter in the world," the 27-year-old Belgian says. " I also really like her and I think we can work well together. We have never raced together, so of course I don't know what it will be like then, but for now I don't see any problems."
On the World Championships in Glasgow, Wiebes is determined to add the rainbow jersey to her grwoing collection. “That is really a long-term goal," she reveals. "Of course it would be great to exchange the European jersey for the rainbow jersey, but it is also very nice to ride around in that European champion jersey."
