Jarne Van de Paar was extremely happy with his victory in the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré on Sunday. It was his second professional victory, after he had already won a stage in the Tour of Taihu Lake.
"This is awesome. I really wanted to win in Belgium this year. It is my first race here and I won it straight away," the Lotto Dstny sprinter laughs. "Most were extremely cold, but I felt good. It wasn't too bad. It was also a tough race, with many falls and slides. It was really a spectacle."
Lotto Dstny had problems due to a fall by Milan Menten and illness by Jarrad Drizners, but Van de Paar did not let that deter him. "It turned out nicely, we were always up front with Joshua Giddings and Lionel Taminiaux. In the final we had to wait and see how the race went."
"The sprint was hectic. I mainly wanted to wait, remain calm and trust my teammates. I couldn't get a better lead-out," Van de Paar was very complimentary.
