The European Championship circuit largely consists of a local circuit on the VAM mountain, the former waste dump that became a bit higher for this European Championship: in the past the road went up to a height of 48 meters, now it is 63 meters.
"That extra bit makes it more difficult, but it is not what will necessarily make the difference," Belgian coach
Sven Vanthourenhout reads the local circuit. "It is mainly the circuit itself: the alternation of narrow and wider roads, the fight to be at the front, constant positioning. That will be the deciding factor at the end. That accumulation of nervousness will cause fatigue deep into the final."
