The 32-year-old Frenchman has been riding his entire professional career for
Soudal - Quick-Step. In recent years, however, there has been some turbulence in the relationship with team boss Patrick Lefevere. Alaphilippe on a world-champion salary had been struggling to make the ends connect in races since his second title in 2020.
That was the case until this May, where at the Giro d'Italia, Alaphilippe once again reminded everyone of his class, when he took a stage win and a four combativity awards on top of it. After the Italian grand tour, both parties seem to have to sat down to discuss a possible contract renewal, but the outcome of these talks remains unknown.
