“If we don't win a stage at Tour, it will be a big setback for us and we will actually have a sh*tty season" - Dsnty CEO

The founder and CEO of Dstny, Daan De Wever, has expressed great confidence in Lotto Dstny sprinter Arnaud De Lie. In an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws, he says that he wants to see the young leader in the Tour de France next season.

“I want Arnaud to be able to win a top classic with us,” said De Wever. “His renewal is the number one priority of CEO Stephane Heulot. If you have one of the greatest Belgian talents, you have to do everything you can to keep him on board and to deal with him well: that also means having a talk when things are not good. We are not applauding for seventh place.”

De Wever is less happy with other leader, Caleb Ewan. “I'd expect a lot more from Ewan, while his condition is fine,” he says. “From outsider's perspective, after all those crashes, it seems as if Ewan is afraid of bunch sprints. The question that arises is: can he still make that click?”

According to the Dstny CEO, Tour de France is of great importance. “If we don't win a stage at Tour, it will be a big setback for us and we will actually have a shitty season. Tour accounts for fifty percent of all media attention. In Belgium and the Netherlands, people are starting to know Dstny, but our priority is European brand awareness.”
