Biniam Girmay is already busy recovering after his retirement from the Giro d'Italia. To do this, he traveled to Belgium, more specifically to Heist-op-den-Berg, where he is working on his recovery at t.care-be under the guidance of physiotherapist Tim Aerts.
If the recovery goes well, the leader of Intermarché - Wanty will start again next Saturday, May 18, at Veenendaal Classic in the Netherlands. After that, Girmay would also appear at the start of Circuit Franco Belge (May 28) and the Brussels Cycling Cup (June 2), Het Nieuwsblad reports. At the end of June, Girmay could also line up to the Tour de France.
Girmay did not reach the finish of the fourth stage in the recent Giro after crashing twice in the descent of the Colle del Melogno. The stage seemed like a good opportunity for the Eritrean, who arrived third just a day before in a stage to Fossano.
