"I would like to ride even more offensively" - Carlos Rodriguez not content with third spot on the podium

After a breakthrough few days in the Alps that saw Carlos Rodriguez take his first Tour de France stage win, the Spaniard has reached the second rest day on the podium. Seemingly though, Rodriguez hasn't given up hope of rising even further.

"I would like to ride even more offensively," said the 22-year-old on Monday's rest day in quotes collected by EFE. "But there are two such strong riders with good teams in front of me. Then it is difficult to do something without shorting yourself out," he references Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.

5:21 down on overall leader Jonas Vingegaard however, it's more likely that Rodriguez will be fighting for the third spot on the podium. 19 seconds ahead of Adam Yates and 1:17 ahead of Jai Hindley, the Spaniard is in a positive position as the race enters what is sure to be a highly dramatic final week.

"So far it seemed that Hindley would go for third place, but he is now suddenly fifth. I could also be tenth tomorrow. You never know, I can't do more than my best. In any case, I'm looking forward to the ride over the Col de la Loze, that's a climb that should suit me," says Rodriguez. "In any case, I don't feel any pressure. After a crash, the third week in last year's Vuelta didn't go so well, but that's not really a point of reference. I still feel good about myself."
