Rigoberto Urán has finished second twice at the Giro d'Italia, but those years are well behind the Colombian. In a different phase of his career, he's now looking forward to racing the Corsa Rosa for the seventh time with an open card to chase multiple goals.
“My job will be to eat well, sleep well, not get sick and take it one day at a time. I want to help the team and then we will see where I stand at the end,” Urán said in a press conference leading up to the Giro. “I know that riders from the highest level are participating. That makes it tough against those great teams. But our team is also very active. We have great riders and want to do well here too.”

The team will be eyeing the overall classification with Hugh Carthy. Having finished ninth at the Vuelta last year the 36-year old could realistically aim for a spot in the Top10 but that will be decided during the race. Helping Carthy and chasing stage wins is also very much a possibility, as the strong EF Education-EasyPost team also features very strong stage hunters such as Ben Healy and Magnus Cort Nielsen.
“The most important thing is that I feel good. I am at the end of my career, I can help the team, but I also want to experience everything and take advantage of every moment. Because in the end it's all about performance here," Urán concluded, on the verge of starting the 23rd Grand Tour of his career.
