Jonathan Milan powered to a dominant sprint win on stage 2 of the 2025
Criterium du Dauphiné on Monday afternoon, securing the Maillot Jaune from
Tadej Pogacar in the process. A little before the finale however, there were some scary scenes on the French roads.
As a four man breakaway of
Romain Combaud, Victor Guernalec,
Christopher Juul-Jensen and
Paul Ourselin were whizzing down a country road at some considerable speed, all of a sudden the breakaway was met by a white Volkswagen Beetle attempting to pull out onto the course.
Given the speed the riders were going and the total surprise of the car pulling out from behind the bushes, this could have easily ended in disaster. Thankfully, Combaud, Guernalec, Juul-Jensen and Ourselin all managed to avoid a crash, though they did make an effort to remonstrate with the car in question via some clearly furious hand signals.
