"I have the best fans in the world" - Thibaut Pinot gets tribute and dramatic fan group at final Il Lombardia

Thibaut Pinot rode his last race as a pro at Il Lombardia. The French cyclist finished more than 8 minutes behind the winner, Tadej Pogacar, but he was undoubtedly the most acclaimed rider of the day, as hundreds of his fans lined a bend at the end of the streets of Bergamo to cheer him on.

"It's over, it's been incredible, I haven't been world champion, I haven't been the best in the world, but I have the best fans in the world," he said after the finish of his final race as a professional cyclist on the road. "It's been crazy, it's been magnificent. My race has been complicated, I had to finish, I managed to do it with Rudy [Molard}, it's something symbolic and I did it. We're going to celebrate tonight."

After a brilliant career in which he managed to win several stages of the Tour de France, the Frenchman leaves at the age of 33 with 33 victories to his name and with a final year in which he shone in the Giro d'Italia with stage victories, finishing in the top 10 and winning the mountains jersey.
