While Lewis Askey's season lacked a real highlight in form of a big victory, the young Brit from Groupama-FDJ couldn't speak of a bad year in an interview with In de Leiderstrui.
"It was a great season. Of course it would have been nice if I had taken that victory. After all, I finished second several times. Moreover, I have finished in the top ten quite often, including at the Vuelta. All in all, I certainly can't complain. I notice that I am getting better every year. And that's the most important thing."

"What am I most proud of? Second place in Paris-Tours, my last race of the year. A real highlight to end the year with. I am also very pleased with my performance in the Tour of Flanders, where I finished thirty-second. This also applies to Paris-Roubaix. In those races I did not achieve a real top ranking, but I did surprise myself with my level."
"I am riding a similar program as last season. That means many Belgian and French competitions. I prefer to stay as far away as possible from the Italian classics," he laughs. "However, it would also be really cool if I could go to a Grand Tour again. Hopefully a different one than in 2023."
