One week to go and our Giro D’Italia cards have been dealt! From Grand Tour debutants to some of the most experienced riders in the peloton, we have multiple cards to play at La Corsa Rosa 💕 🇮🇹 #Giro
The Giro d'Italia slowly begins to take form. Israel - Premier Tech have revealed their 'eight' for the Corsa Rosa containing Domenico Pozzovivo who departs for his 17th Giro and a group of riders who will be seeking a stage win.
Giacomo Nizzolo will be absent from the race, a surprise likely taking into consideration his lack of results this year. The Israeli team saves many of it's biggest weapons for the Tour de France, whilst the goals will be more modest here. Late signing Domenico Pozzovivo headlines the team, likely in pursuit of a Top10. He finished eighth last year after a similar situation where he only found a contract during the season. Experienced, the 40-year old should carry the main team ambitions.
However it could be argued that a stage win would be just as important. The likes of Simon Clarke and Stephen Williams will be their best cards mainly for the hilly and transitional stages. Both would be capable of obtaining this, getting a stage win would likely make the race for Israel.
The lineup includes young riders Derek Gee and Marco Frigo, also Matthew Riccitello and Sebastian Berwick who will be getting experience and supporting Pozzovivo in the mountains, and lastly Mads Würtz Schmidt will also be eyeing opportunities in the days that suit breakaways.
