Gino Mäder to be honored at Madonna del Ghisallo - Memorial organized for late Swiss rider

The Madonna del Ghisallo, one of cycling's most famous climbs and benchmark of 'Il Lombardia' is a church with a special connection to cycling. And on this 9th of March it will honor late rider Gino Mäder in a special ceremony.

As TuttoBiciWeb reports, a memorial mass is to be held at the beginning of March at the shrine of the Madonna del Ghisallo, which is very dear to the hearts of all cyclists. With the agreement of Sandra Mäder, the mother of the deceased cyclist; and the team manager of the Velo Club Mendrisio, Alfredo Maranesi, the Gruppo Sportivo Madonna del Ghisallo has decided to place an image of Mäder in the sanctuary.

In collaboration with the rector of the sanctuary, Don Giovanni Giovannoni, a blessing of the image (a ceramic) will be held on March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. local time during a Holy Mass at the 'Madonna del Ghisallo' sanctuary (in Magreglio - Como).

It is hoped that a large number of fans will also attend in order to honor the life and importance of Gino Mäder for Swiss cycling and world sport in general.
