Today the Vuelta a España reaches a tough finish in the Caravaca de la Cruz in Murcia. Enric Mas spoke to the Spanish media before the start of the day very happy to race in Murcia, the land of his former teammate Alejandro Valverde:
"Happy to come to the lands of the 'Bala', who I think knows the course very well, yesterday was not a great day, but half happy." About the mountain pass itself, he assures that it is hard and that it is a mix between Xorret de Catí and Pico del Buitre: "I think it's a style between yesterday's and Javalambre, it has ramps with rest and a very hard kilometer, it's a mix of that."
He was asked if the men of the Javalambre breakaway (Kuss, Soler, Landa, to name a few) will be able to fight to win the Vuelta. The Movistar Team leader said he doesn't think they have a chance: "We're going to have the riders from that breakaway we're going to have them until the last week, I think Jumbo will have to sacrifice Kuss in order to win the Vuelta with one of the two (Jonas Vingegaard or Primoz Roglic) and likewise UAE with Marc Soler."
Finally, he was happy with his performance in the race so far, although he hopes to improve on a personal level: "Positive, I'm not super happy, but for the team's work and for the non-crashes, in general it's positive".
