Jumbo-Visma explode Vuelta a Espana stage 9 right from the start with echelons - 6 riders in a group of 12, Evenepoel and Vlasov follow

Stage 9 of the Vuelta a Espana is off to a brutal start, although the focus of the stage was in the final climb, Jumbo-Visma have exploded the race right from the start with a massive move in the crosswinds, but Remco Evenepoel matched right away.

Sepp Kuss, Primoz Roglic, Jonas Vingegaard, Dylan van Baarle, Attila Valter, Wilco Kelderman and Jan Tratnik, 7 of the 8 Jumbo-Visma riders lined up at the head of the group in a section of strong crosswinds that was known and destroyed the peloton to bits. Valter has since punctured and dropped out of the group.

Following the yellow train - now with Sepp Kuss in the red jersey - was Remco Evenepoel and Mattia Cattaneo of Soudal - Quick-Step, alive to the danger; Matevz Govekar of Bahrain - Victorious and a trio of BORA - hansgrohe riders in Alexander Vlasov, Nico Denz and Emanuel Buchmann.
