Eddie Dunbar hung with the best on Monte Bondone and came into the finish line alongside Primoz Roglic just 25 seconds behind Joao Almeida and Geraint Thomas. The Jayco-AlUla Irishman will be hoping for a repeat performance on stage 18:

"I hope not to lose time, the other day was a great day and to get something similar these last few days would be positive, there is still going to be a lot of running on these two days so hopefully I can keep up with the guys ahead of me."

However, Dunbar, currently fifth in the overall classification, thinks that the big stage of the Giro d'Italia will be Friday's stage with the finish at Tre Cime di Lavaredo, where the overall classification could be decided:

"I think today we will be conservative, tomorrow is a tremendous day that can generate minutes of difference, today it can be seconds, we have to take that into consideration, but it will be an exciting day anyway."
