UCI Rankings Team Update | Astana and Picnic PostNL put Cofidis in the red zone and risk of relegation

With the Giro d'Italia completed, the UCI Rankings have changed substantially. On the team's side, Cofidis has now provisionally fallen out of the World Tour as both XDS Astana and Team Picnic PostNL have pulled off strong races that have seen them gather solid points.

You can check the previous update. Although not 100% of the points came from the Giro, the grand majority did. Team Visma Lease a Bike was actually the top scoring team with 2647 points added to their tally this week, followed by UAE Team Emirates - XRG's 2467. However it has been, for a long time, undisputed that the Emirati team leads both the yearly and tri-yearly rankings, which will not change in the future.

What matter is what's happening at the bottom of the rankings, and after climbing onto the provisional World Tour position, XDS Astana Team have piled on another 1260 points, a strong tally which puts them around 500 points above Team Picnic PostNL who scored 919. But Cofidis scored only 283 and has been overtaken by both the teams it's battling against. It is now behind Picnic, although by a small margin of only just over 100 points. Uno-X Mobility are around 2000 points behind the French team, making it complicated that it will be able to close the gap.
