David Dekker is in his second year at Arkéa - B&B Hotels, yet the Dutch sprinter is still waiting for a big victory after a handful of second places, most notably in last year's Giro d'Italia stage 2 when he lost to (then unknown) Jonathan Milan.
"I'm doing very well. I feel good about myself and have completed a number of great races. That's always nice," he told In de Leiderstrui. "I am very satisfied with my form in general and therefore also with the wattages. And also about how all that translates into the prices themselves."
Dekker recently finished third in a soaking wet edition of GP Monseré. "I have ridden some nice one-day races in recent weeks. Just slightly lower scale races, so no WorldTour races. These are all yet to come. But they were nice races to get into. For me, Classic Brugge-De Panne is a very nice opportunity, as is Gent Wevelgem. The latter is a challenge, but if I feel good it is a fun race to see what I can do.
Dekker finds it difficult to indicate exactly what his chances are in a race like Brugge-De Panne. "That is very difficult. On such a day, everything has to go well for me and then we'll see where the ship ends up."
