Daniele Bennati sees Ganna as future champion of the classics - "Has shown that one day he really can win these monumental classics"

Filippo Ganna delivered an outstanding performance at Paris-Roubaix, securing a sixth-place finish that left everyone impressed. Daniele Bennati, in particular, was thrilled with Ganna's achievement in the spring classic.

"As always, it was a spectacular, mythical race, one of my favourites," he said while appearing as a guest on Rai Radio 1. He continues, "From the point of view of the spectacle, the athletes didn't let us lack anything. Ganna? As his first Paris-Roubaix as captain, I'd say he didn't do so bad after an excellent second place at Milan-San Remo."

The Italian coach believes Ganna has the potential to take victory in the prestigious races against the best if his performance keeps improving. "He is a great champion in time trials on the road and a champion on the track. Now, at his first opportunity as captain, both at Milan-San Remo and Paris-Roubaix, he has shown that one day he really can win these monumental classics. "

According to him, mistakes are commonplace when one is under pressure, and he advises Ganna to stay calm during such situations as it can reduce the likelihood of making errors. “The advice I give him is not to distort himself. Nervousness at the end of the race? He took it out on those who came in to play for fourth place, let's say they were a bit smart. But Filippo must be calm because he has nothing to complain about from a tactical and physical point of view, he has prepared these classics in the best possible way,” concluded Bennati.
