With 30 names signed up for 2025, Cofidis joins a number of teams who have already completed their lineups for next season. If you hoped for transfer bombshells, you'll be disappointed as neither Jan Maas nor Paul Ourselin come as leaders, but rather quite the opposite.
With the 28-year-old Jan Maas, Cofidis adds a loyal worker who can compete on all types of terrains. WielerFlits reports that it was Cofidis' wish to add a versatile rider who will be ready to fill in for whichever race needed. Maas is not unfamiliar with the role, yet he still hopes to prove there's more to him.
"Cofidis is a team with a great history. It is part of one of the great cycling nations and it is a chance to be able to compete under its colours. What I like is being able to help my teammates, doing everything to allow them to express their full potential and succeed in obtaining good results. I like difficult races whether they are the classics or the stage races. Obviously, I dream of being able to compete in the Tour de France with Cofidis," Maas says in a press release.
The 30-year-old Paul Ourselin also comes on a one-year contract. The French rider spent the last eight seasons with TotalEnergies, but is still waiting for his first professional victory. During his time with the ProTeam Ourselin proved himself as a reliable teammate and that'll be his role in Cofidis too.
"I am very happy to join Cofidis, which is a historic French team. I want to discover the UCI World Tour and races that I don't know yet. Being part of the Cofidis team is a great progression in my career. After eight seasons as a professional, I am starting to get a good idea of my abilities. I enjoy stage races and where I express myself best is in a teammate role to support our leaders and sprinters. Afterwards, I remain a competitor and I will do everything to seize opportunities if they arise. I would like to thank Cédric Vasseur for trusting me and reaching out to me."
