Chris Froome collides with car during training ride and suffers injuries

Chris Froome is not having the best of endings to his 2022 season, and this weekend whilst training near his home in Monaco, he collided with a car causing him to suffer minor injuries.

The Briton was training near home in an urban area when a stopped car opened it's door without caution, leading Froome to hit it. “Yesterday I went out for a lovely Sunday ride. It was stunning, lovely weather, stunning views but just before I got home, 500m before my front door I got doored," Froome told Velonews. "That means as I was riding along someone in a parked car opened their door right in front of me."

"It was literally a meter in front of me. I didn’t even make it to my brakes. I hit the door and went flying over," he described. Froome shared a video on TikTok talking about the accident and visibly having bandages on his left elbow. Despite the collision, it is believed that the consequences are small.

Froome is set to keep racing throughout the 2023 which he will soon begin preparing, after the off-season, as he looks to further regain a competitive level, after giving positive signs this year that he could be in contention for some wins including in the Tour de France.
